Even though I have listened to it several times over the last few months, I enjoyed it again this week. There are just so many gems in there. And so for today, I thought I could pull out some of the themes from our conversation to help you soak in all the goodness of Desi's stories and music and wisdom.
(02:46):
If you haven't listened to it yet, no worries. You can listen to this episode first and then go back to that one, or vice versa. I think you'll have an enriching experience either way. (03:43):
Okay, the title of last week's episode was Aligning with the Earth Through Song. But today I'd like to offer a different framing, loving Yourself to Love the Earth. These are five ways that Dessi spoke to us about how to love ourselves, which in turn helps us stay heart to heart with the earth.
(04:10):
So first we had the Power of Song. We listened to her soulful expression a couple of times, and she shared how some of the stories that have been medicine for her didn't come from her tribe. And to me, this was about really recognizing healing energy. When you hear it, recognizing healing energy, when you speak, when you sing, and when you're able to recognize that you can use that song to sing to yourself, to soothe yourself. You can sing to the ocean, to the river, to the tree, to the salmon, and your healing song, your healing. Singing can be healing for you. For others, she spoke of kind of transforming the energy at marches and even in very dangerous, uh, situations where it could even have turned violent and how the whole situation transformed with the song. She spoke specifically about singing to encourage the runners of run for salmon, and also about singing to the salmon. So I guess, you know, related to this theme, you might ask yourself, how has song been healing to you? And how might song help you stay heart to heart with the earth?
(06:01):
Second, Remembering Who We Are. So Dessi shared that she didn't grow up in a tribal, in a traditional tribal, uh, setting. And this is something that she is reconnecting with now later in, in her life. And, you know, um, for many of us, this is the case not having grown up within our ancestral traditional tribal, uh, setting. And she also spoke about how people and songs from other tribes had supported this journey to kind of love herself, love her way back into reconnection and, and remembrance. And I think that this is a very rich theme for reflection. You can ask yourself, who has helped you reconnect with your indigenous ancestral traditional ways or wisdom? And how might you continue to develop this aspect of yourself?
(07:25):
Third, Desi spoke to us about her hummingbird self and this aspect of hers, which she recognizes as a cross pollinator. So this number three is the Gift of Cross Pollination. And to me, this spoke of kind of offering this medicine and knowing ourselves as medicine. So really coming into understanding of our gifts and how, how we share them in the world. And as we're able to do that, she also spoke of the healing power of our thoughts and our intentions, our words, our choices, our actions. And it's been very interesting because since we published that episode last week, I've had a number of synchronicities come up specifically with the theme of cross pollinating and pollinating - also related to like the autumn arriving and going into theme of intimacy with that. And it inspired me to write a whole article about that. And so hopefully I'll be ready to share it sometime soon. But when you think about this gift of pollination and cross pollination, what message does that hold for you?
(09:15):
All right, number four, Cueing Yourself into Alignment. This was a very beautiful part of the conversation where she spoke to us about Nadia's baby even before he was born. And how just knowing his presence and feeling and sentencing his presence, kind of, he became kind of a cue for her to come back into alignment, back into alignment with her intention and with her highest aspiration. And she spoke about how she was careful with her thoughts and her words and the way she expressed herself in his presence. And so to me, you know, the question that this brings up is what does this sort of alignment mean to you? And who cues you, who helps to bring you into this sort of alignment?
(10:30):
And then finally, number five, a very heartfelt reminder that You are Nature. So you are nature. Desiree spoke several times about out. What happens when we let go of ourselves in the sense of like our sense of being like hyper individualistic or, or something to, to that degree. And instead feel ourselves as part of nature, part of everything around us. And she shared this gorgeous song which she wrote, and these are some of the lyrics. She says, you are made of earth, air, water, fire, and the stars above you. You are made of love and you have strength in your ancestral blood, connected to creator of all things. You're a reflection of every living being call on all relations inside you. You have the power to manifest anything. You are made of earth, air, water, fire, and the stars above you. You are made of love and you have strength in your ancestral blood, connected to creator of all things. You're a reflection of every living being call on all relations inside you. You have the power to manifest anything. So the question that I would ask related to this is what does this bring up for you? What is alive for you in this moment related to this theme that you are nature?
(12:37):
So those were the five threads I wanted to share. One, power of song. Two, remembering who we are. Three, gift of cross pollination. Four, cueing yourself into alignment. Five, you are nature. Take your time with these just like we've been taking our our time as little raky, sniffs everything around us here. Enjoy these themes, savor them. And I will be with you next time on the Heart to Heart with the Earth Podcast, a Rosa Guayaba production.
