Hi, Iâm Natasha Deganello Giraudie.
Nature will be our mentor, our teacher. Â Iâm happy to be your guide.
I am a child of the Caribbean, the rainforest, and the tepuyes of Venezuela. I raised my daughter among the Redwoods and the Pacific Ocean of Northern California.
As a young mother, I refused to accept that the overwhelm and exhaustionâthat are so often normalizedâwould become the soundtrack of my babyâs life. I wanted our life to feel like an invigorating, peaceful retreat, with brief moments of pressure releaseârather than the other way around.
Looking for cues, both personally and through my work as a documentary filmmaker, I began to retrace and expand upon three beloved threads of my life: Â
đż Himalayan traditions from two decades of study with the Dalai Lama and nature retreats with Thich Nhat Hanh.Â
đż Indigenous wisdom from a lifetime of learning with elders and wisdom keepersâfrom the Pemon and Warao of Venezuela, to the Winnemem Wintu of California, among many others.
đż Spiritual ecology through immersion in the insights of naturalists like Jane Goodall, David Abram, Robin Wall Kimmerer, Sylvia Earle and Janine Benyus.
Then one day, nine years later, I was making a film in Havana, waiting outside a building as my colleagues were delayed by a storm. I was quietly moved to tears, noticing how easily I had dropped into a meaningful moment with the rain.
In that instant, I realized: I had created the life I had longed for. The peace within the storm.
The realization touched me so deeply that it evoked a promise from the center of my core.
I promised that for the next nine years, I would share what had become my nature practice with othersâso that they, too, could access their grounded, vibrant, open-hearted, natural, peaceful presence every single day.
Since then, Iâve had the privilege of guiding hundreds of Earth loversâfrom all corners of the world, across different heritages and spiritual traditions. I have also taught a class on this at Stanford University and led workshops for the United Nations, the Dalai Lama Fellows, Yosemiteâs NatureBridge, One World Ayurveda in Bali, and others.
